Why Rent a Scooter in Ibiza?
If you’re a tourist, you can either opt for a car or bike rental in Ibiza.
If you don’t like two-wheelers and don’t know how to ride them, cars will be a better and safer bet.
However, if you like two-wheelers and want to experience its fun in a great-looking place, you should opt for bikes or scooters — depending on your needs.
4 Points to Note When Renting a Scooter in Ibiza
Below, I have listed some points that you should note when renting a scooter in Ibiza.
1. Legal Documents
If you’re going to rent a 50cc scooter, you can do so with your international driving license. Being at least 18 years old is the minimum age requirement to rent a 50cc scooter.
For renting 125cc and higher displacement scooters, you should have an international license and be at least 21 years old.
Be noted that these rules are applicable if you’re from Spanish. For other countries, the rules can vary depending on that country’s driving license laws.
Generally speaking, if you’re 21 years, you’re eligible to ride motorcycles of any displacement.
If you can satisfy the age requirement and have a valid driving license and payment card, you’re eligible to rent a scooter in Ibiza.
2. Choose the Right Scooter Rental Company
There are many scooter rental companies out there in Ibiza. You can choose one depending on your convenience.
If you ask me, I’ll suggest you BikesBooking. They have various scooters and operate across several locations in Ibiza.
3. Wear the Necessary Protective Gears
To ride a scooter in Ibiza, both the rider and pillion should wear a crash helmet. The helmet must be ECE 22.05 approved.
Besides the helmet, nothing else is required.
Usually, the company you rent the scooter will provide you with the helmet.
4. Speed Limit
The speed limit in Ibiza is similar to that of Spain. Below, I have listed them.
- Built-up areas – 50 kph (31 mph)
- Conventional roads – 100 kph (62 mph)
- Dual carriageways and motorways – 120 kph (75 mph)
- All other roads – 90 kph (56 mph)
You should note that for mopeds, tricycles, and light quads, the speed will reduce to 45 kph (28 mph). Also, they aren’t allowed on motorways.
Enjoying Ibiza on a scooter is a satisfying experience. You get to enjoy the roads and the nature around. You can enjoy the beautiful momentums, ancient wells, windmills, and watchtowers.
Also, since scooters are more convenient, you can reach your destinations more quickly.
